Allium Schubertii
Allium Schubertii is a truly extraordinary ornamental allium, prized for its dramatic firework-like flower heads that create a spectacular focal point in any garden. Flowering from late May into early June, each giant bloom is made up of hundreds of delicate star-shaped lilac-purple flowers carried on radiating stems, giving the appearance of an exploding firework. Despite its impressive flower size, it grows to a compact height of around 40cm, making it perfect for the front of borders, rockeries and containers.
This distinctive variety brings exceptional architectural interest to the garden and is equally stunning once the flowers fade, as the decorative seed heads remain attractive for months. A favourite with pollinators, Allium Schubertii thrives in sunny, well-drained positions and combines beautifully with ornamental grasses and late spring perennials.
