4L Westland Bonsai Potting Mix

Westland Bonsai Potting Mix is a peat free potting mix which is free draining with an open structure for healthy root growth. It is a loam-based mix to retain and slowly release nutrients. The mix has been formulated with the correct balance of drainage and water retention as well as aeration. This is required to develop a healthy root system, and is an essential for healthy bonsai growth. Included are our unique Seramis® granules which helps the process of storing water and nutrients and releasing them when plants require.

Get ready to grow! Select a young bonsai and pot it up using Westland Bonsai Potting Mix using a small pot. For the next 2-3 years regularly trim the roots and shoots. When the bonsai tree is ready to be re-potted, get an adequate size pt and trim the roots so they fit into the container without having to be bent or forced. Fill the container with potting mix and secure the tree into the pot with wire. Keep the plant out of the sun an water frequently to allow it to recover. Every spring take your bonsai out of its pot and inspect the roots to see if the plant needs potting on. Even if replanting into the same pot, tease out the old compost and trim roots before adding fresh potting mix.
