Cucumber Cucumis Sativus Emilie F1
€4.95
Cucumber Emilie F1 from Thompson & Morgan is a high-yielding, all-female hybrid variety that produces slender, dark green cucumbers with a crisp texture and exceptional flavour. These cucumbers are perfect for snacking, slicing into salads, or pickling. With its vigorous and productive growth habit, this variety offers continuous cropping throughout the summer. Emilie F1 is also resistant to common cucumber diseases, making it a reliable and easy-to-grow choice for both experienced and novice gardeners.
The plants are compact and well-suited for greenhouses, polytunnels, or even outdoor growing in a sunny, sheltered spot. This variety is parthenocarpic, meaning it does not require pollination, ensuring consistent yields of high-quality fruits.
Sowing Instructions:
For the best results, sow seeds indoors from March to May. Fill small pots with seed compost, sowing each seed about 1 cm deep. Water gently and place the pots in a warm location at 20-25°C for germination, which usually occurs within 7-10 days. Once the seedlings have developed two true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or their final growing position.
If planting outdoors, wait until all risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up. Choose a sunny, sheltered location with well-drained, fertile soil. Space plants 45-60 cm apart, providing a trellis or other support for the vines to climb. Water regularly, and feed with a high-potash fertiliser to encourage fruit production.
Cucumber Emilie F1 begins producing fruit around 8-10 weeks after sowing, offering a bountiful harvest of smooth, straight cucumbers throughout the growing season. With its disease resistance, ease of care, and delicious flavour, Emilie F1 is an excellent choice for any home gardener.
