Begonia Boliviensis Santa Barbara from the Select by Taylor’s range is a beautifully free-flowering summer bulb, prized for its elegant cascading habit and masses of delicate white blooms. From July onwards, slender arching stems are covered in star-shaped flowers with soft yellow centres, creating a light and graceful display that works particularly well in containers and hanging baskets. This begonia brings a softer, more refined look to summer planting schemes while still delivering impressive impact through its sheer volume of flowers. Carefully selected for prolific flowering, it performs reliably in Irish gardens and sheltered outdoor spaces.

Key Features
This begonia variety is chosen for its long flowering period and abundant blooms throughout the summer months. Its gently trailing growth habit makes it ideal for raised containers, pots and baskets where the flowers can spill naturally over the edges. Flowering from July onwards, it provides consistent colour and interest well into late summer. It is well suited to Irish growing conditions and is easy to grow with minimal effort.

Size
Begonia Boliviensis Santa Barbara reaches an approximate flowering height of 60cm, or around 24 inches, with a naturally cascading form.

Useful For
Ideal for patio containers, hanging baskets, raised planters and sheltered borders, where its trailing habit and prolific flowering can be fully enjoyed.

Aftercare
Plant begonia tubers in spring once the risk of frost has passed, positioning them in fertile, well-drained soil in a sheltered spot with bright light or partial shade. Water regularly during the growing season, taking care not to waterlog the soil. Deadheading is not essential, as plants flower freely without it. In autumn, lift tubers after the foliage has died back and store them in a cool, dry, frost-free place over winter.
