2kg Sharpe’s Express Seed Potatoes
Sharpe’s Express is a classic first early potato variety and a long-standing favourite with gardeners who want fast, reliable results early in the season. Supplied in convenient 2kg packs, these certified seed potatoes produce long, oval tubers with smooth white skin and pale lemon-coloured flesh. Renowned for their flavour and consistency, Sharpe’s Express is ideal for gardeners keen to enjoy their first homegrown potatoes of the year.

Potato Type and Growing Season
Sharpe’s Express is a first early variety, meaning it is planted early and harvested quickly. Planting usually takes place from late February to early March, depending on weather and soil conditions, with harvesting typically after 12 to 14 weeks. This makes it one of the earliest potatoes to lift, perfect for early summer harvesting when fresh new potatoes are at their best.

Planting and Growing Advice
For best results, chit Sharpe’s Express seed potatoes in a bright, frost-free area before planting to encourage strong shoots. Choose a sunny site with well-drained, fertile soil and improve the ground with plenty of compost or well-rotted manure. Plant the seed potatoes around 10cm deep, spacing them approximately 30cm apart with 60cm between rows. As the plants grow, earth up soil around the stems regularly to protect developing tubers from light and to promote a good crop.

Harvesting and Storage
Sharpe’s Express potatoes are ready to harvest once the foliage begins to yellow and die back, usually in early to mid-summer. Lift carefully using a fork to avoid damaging the tubers. As a first early variety, these potatoes are best enjoyed fresh rather than stored long term, offering superb flavour straight from the garden.

Best Uses in the Kitchen
This variety is valued for its excellent taste and slightly waxy texture. Sharpe’s Express is particularly good for boiling and salads, while also working well for roasting, baking and light mashing. Its clean flavour makes it ideal for simple dishes where the potato really shines.
