Aftercare
Always clean your spade after use by removing soil and debris, then dry thoroughly before storing. Never leave tools outdoors, as moisture from dew and wet grass can cause damage over time. Store in a dry place to prevent rust and handle deterioration. For wooden handles, apply a light coat of boiled linseed oil occasionally to prevent drying and cracking. If the handle becomes dirty, clean gently with a stiff brush or a slightly damp cloth, avoiding soaking the wood. Allow to dry fully before storage. Thoroughly clean tools used with fertilisers or chemicals, as residues can corrode metal surfaces quickly.
