Sweetcorn Eden F1 from Thompson & Morgan is a top-performing hybrid variety, perfect for gardeners seeking a reliable, high-yielding sweetcorn with exceptional flavour. Known for its large, tender, and juicy kernels, Eden F1 produces cobs that are sweet, succulent, and full of flavour, making it ideal for roasting, boiling, or grilling. With its excellent disease resistance and superb uniformity, this F1 hybrid variety delivers high-quality crops that are perfect for both novice and experienced gardeners alike.

This sweetcorn variety is bred for early maturity, allowing you to enjoy your homegrown corn earlier in the season. The plants grow tall and strong, producing large ears with golden-yellow kernels that are well-suited for harvesting at their peak. Eden F1 is also renowned for its resilience, with the plants showing excellent resistance to common corn diseases such as smut and rust, making it an ideal choice for a trouble-free harvest.

Sowing Instructions:
For Sweetcorn Eden F1, sow the seeds indoors from March to April, about 2.5 cm deep in pots or seed trays filled with a good-quality seed compost. Keep the seeds in a warm spot at around 18-21°C until they germinate, which usually takes 7-10 days. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots or their final position outdoors after all risk of frost has passed, typically in late May to early June.

For outdoor sowing, sow directly into the soil after the danger of frost has passed, spaced 25-30 cm apart in blocks rather than rows to improve pollination. Ensure the soil is fertile, well-drained, and kept warm for the best results.

Growing Tips:
Sweetcorn Eden F1 thrives in a sunny position with rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly to keep the soil moist, particularly during dry spells, as sweetcorn requires consistent moisture to develop its sweet kernels. Apply a balanced fertiliser in early growth stages to promote strong plants, and consider using mulch to keep the soil cool and retain moisture.

Sweetcorn benefits from being grown in blocks rather than rows, as this improves pollination. Be sure to plant the seeds in close proximity, around 25 cm apart, and thin out weaker plants as they grow.

Harvesting:
Your Sweetcorn Eden F1 will be ready to harvest around 70-80 days after sowing. The cobs are at their best when the kernels are plump, golden, and tender. To check, gently press a kernel with your fingernail – if it releases a milky juice, the cob is ready to pick. For the best flavour, harvest in the morning and enjoy fresh straight from the plant.

Sweetcorn Eden F1 is an outstanding choice for gardeners looking to grow sweetcorn with unbeatable flavour and reliability. With its fast-growing, disease-resistant nature, and high-quality yields, it’s perfect for creating the ultimate homegrown summer feast.
