25L Westland Seed & Cutting Super Fine Grade Compost
Boost Germination with Super Fine Compost
Westland Seed & Cutting Compost is a premium-grade mix that enhances germination by up to 25%, ensuring faster, healthier plant growth. Its ultra-fine texture allows for superior seed-to-soil contact, providing the ideal environment for young plants to develop strong roots. With added vermiculite for moisture control and naturally enriched nutrients, this compost supports successful propagation of seeds and cuttings, giving your plants the best possible start.
Why Use?
Seeds need the perfect balance of heat, water, and air to germinate successfully. Westland Seed & Cutting Compost is designed to maximise moisture retention while allowing air to circulate, helping roots to breathe. The result is 25% more successful germination compared to ordinary composts. Enriched with plant extracts and vermiculite, this compost ensures strong root development and healthy leaf growth, making it the ideal choice for propagating seeds and cuttings.
When to Use
Westland Seed & Cutting Compost can be used all year round, but it is best suited for sowing seeds and growing cuttings during the spring and summer months when conditions are optimal for germination. Keep compost moist but not waterlogged to achieve the best results.
Where to Use
This compost is perfect for sowing seeds in trays, pots, and modules. It is also ideal for propagating cuttings, ensuring a strong start for young plants. It is not suitable for ericaceous plants, which require a specialist compost.
How to Use
Before use, break up the compost between your hands to restore its fine texture. For seed sowing, fill a pot or tray just below the rim, tap down to level the surface, and water thoroughly. Sow seeds evenly and cover with a fine layer of compost. Water gently using a fine rose watering can, then cover with a propagator lid or polythene bag and place in a warm, shaded area until germination occurs. For pricking out, once seedlings are large enough to handle, carefully lift them by the leaves and transplant into fresh Westland compost, ensuring delicate roots are undisturbed. For cuttings, take a 10cm non-flowering shoot, trim to leave the top two pairs of leaves, dip the base in rooting gel, and insert firmly into the compost. Water well and place in a warm, sheltered area away from direct sunlight.
Safety Information
Always read the product label before use. Use in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling dust. Wear gloves when handling compost and wash hands thoroughly after use. Store in a cool, dry place, away from children and pets.
