Carrot 'Purple Haze' is a main crop variety that is just as tasty as other Nantes types and is particularly sweet eaten raw in salads.

For early forcing, sow under frames or cloches in February as soil starts to warm. Make outdoor sowings March to April onwards.

Although 'Purple Haze' looks like a real novelty it is in fact the orange carrots that are the new-comers! The original wild carrots were purple, red, white or yellow and it was 17th century Dutch breeders who first produced the colour we know today.
