Mini Patio Pear Tree - Bonne Louise De Jersey - AKA Bonne Louise D'Avranches
A truly outstanding dessert pear.
A ripe Louise Bonne is large, rather chunky and a yellowish green with a veneer of russet. The flesh melts in your mouth - and has none of the grainy texture associated with some pears. It is white with a tinge of pink, wonderfully juicy and sweet and acid at the same time with a hint of what some describe as rosewater and others liken to muscat.
Whichever it is, the juice of a Louise Bonne of Jersey runs down your chin like no other pear we know. In form this is an upright tree that is a good choice in for cooler areas since its blossom - which is extremely beautiful is more resistant to frost than most.
Pick your pears in late September and they will store well until after Christmas although Louise Bonne is at its best in October and November. It received the RHS Award of Merit 2003.
Decorative pot not included
In so far as pears ever are, Louise Bonne of Jersey is self-fertile. However she is incompatible with and so can neither pollinate or be pollinated by Williams bon Chretien. Please remember that self-fertile fruit trees generally crop better with a pollinator and in this regard Louise Bonne of Jersey is no exception.
