The young leaves in spring are a wonderful shell pink, hardening to light green by June.
An excellent street tree and for where space is limited. It tolerates air pollution and thrives in most soils, and is particularly useful for coastal sites where it can make an effective defence against strong winds and salt-laden air.
Introduced in the early 1900s, this eye catching cultivar won the Award of Garden Merit in 2002.
