Chimonanthus Praecox- Winter Sweet
Chimonanthus praecox has a common name 'Wintersweet' which gives away it's season of interest. Chimonanthus makes a vigorous shrub in the right place, an excellent specimen plant for a sunny, well-drained site.
Between autumn and spring Chimonanthus praecox has small sulphur coloured flowers all along it's bare branches which give out the most wonderful perfume. Plant close to the house to fully appreciate this lovely shrub.
Prefers neutral or alkaline soils and full sun, otherwise needs little care. Ht to 1.5m (5') in 10 years
