Yucca elephantipes is a desert plant. It owes its name to the large thickening at the bottom of its stem, which it grows in the wild. Its elephants foot look is a natural historical feature of its species.
Your indoor Yucca plant cannot withstand nocturnal frost, but in the summer you can bring it outside onto your terrace, so that you can brighten up your terrace with its exotic desert atmosphere.
Yucca are very easy to care for, as they store water in the trunks and only need occasional watering every 3 or 4 weeks in summer, less in winter.
They do need good light so are perfect plants for a frost free porch, conservatory , bright office or sunroom.
