Parthenocissus tr. 'Veitchii'

Quick Overview

This is a strong growing, self-clinging vine adhering itself to supports by using adhesive pads at the ends of leaf tendrils. It is a tall growing variety which will reach the top of almost any wall at a rate 1-2 metres of annual growth). It is a healthy and undemanding species.

The foliage is dark green, turning brilliant scarlet in autumn before the leaves fall, the colour being more dramatic when sited in a sunny position.

Thrives when grown on a wall, but is also suitable for growing over arbors, pergolas and various other supports. Although this climber grows best in full sun it can also thrive in partial shade when sited in a fertile, well-drained soil.

Garden Care: Provide some support until the climber is well established. Prune in early winter as appropriate, taking special care with stems that are encroaching on windows, guttering or roofs
