Galanthus Snowdrops
The Galanthus Nivalis is mostly known by 'the Snowdrop'. She is one of the most early bulbous plants in the garden. The first flowers will appear from about January. She grows to 25cm high and she prefers a shaded place. The snowdrop is a very good naturalizer and they will expand well within a few years.
The Galanthus is seen as the messenger of the coming spring. The flowers are bell-shaped and protrude above the last snow.
Galanthus (Snowdrops) like a moisture retentive soil & preferably partial shade but will tolerate full sun. Hardy in all areas, ideal for naturalising in lawns, rockeries, borders & containers (flowers year after year). Why not plant a Winter Corner near the house along with Anemone Blanda, Chionodox (Glory of the Snow), Iris Reticulata & Eranthis Hyemalis.
Colour: White
Planting Time: August Onwards
Flowering Time: January
Flowering Height: 10cm/4 inches
